World’s first heat pump solution for Arctic conditions
Cleantech start-up Exocon is bringing to market industrial-scale modular heat pump systems designed to operate reliably even in the harshest northern conditions.
The company challenges conventional heat production by combining highly advanced technology with a comprehensive lifecycle service model.
The heating market is in the midst of a historic transformation. In the electricity market, distributed generation, flexibility and intelligent control have already become everyday reality – now the same structural shift is underway in heat production. Exocon was founded to meet exactly this transformation.
The company’s core promise is exceptionally ambitious: Exocon’s air-to-water heat pumps produce heat reliably even at temperatures as low as –35°C – conditions in which all competing solutions cease to function entirely, and even in milder frosts perform at reduced capacity.
“In the Nordic countries, the electrification of heat production cannot rely on technology that only works in mild conditions. We have built our solution from the ground up to meet the demands of northern winters,” says Jarmo Lehto, CEO of Exocon.
Modularity and natural refrigerants bring predictability
Exocon’s technology is based on a modular architecture that enables flexible scaling and phased expansion of systems. The solutions use natural refrigerants and are designed for a service life spanning several decades. They serve large properties, district heating producers and industrial facilities everywhere efficient, reliable heating or waste heat recovery is required.
Verifiable savings from day one
Exocon’s operating model differs from traditional equipment manufacturing. The company’s ExoCare service covers system optimisation, predictive maintenance, risk management and performance verification throughout the entire lifecycle of the equipment. Performance is backed by a cost-saving guarantee, ensuring customers predictable investments and exceptionally short payback periods.
“We don’t just deliver equipment. We commit to the system’s performance and give the customer full visibility into what they are actually getting from their investment. When savings begin accruing from the very first day of operation, the investment decision becomes significantly easier,” Lehto states.
